Restoration in Desperation : TRUE STORY , LIVING RECOVERY

Restoration in Desperation

Share you Story

My name is Cedar and im an alcoholic. For the last 30 years I was lost in addiction and alcoholism. While sitting in a jail cell waiting for a court date I decided to go out to a program one night to hear what this AA had to say about life. While in the meeting I heard a message of hope, and faith and love and tolerance none of which I had. I was facing a life sentence and I had already lost my wife, kids, job and a house. I didnt even want to live anymore. But after hearing all that this man said to me I believed I had a chance if I only gave up my will and my life to the care of God and admit I was out of control and powerless. So I did. And at that moment a true spiritual awakening happened. Its as if 40 years of bondage and depression was lifted off of me and God took the load on Himself and for the first time in my life I was Free. Even though I was still incarcerated I felt feeedom. After a few months of being away the judge decided to give me one last chance. And I had to prove to him that life to me was more valuable than it had been before. As soon as I was released I went straight to a meeting and  year later I haven’t stopped yet. The AA program saved my life. I got real involved with the program and am now a Fellowship Chairman and work with the District CFC committee to give back to where I came from. Its an honor and a blessing to tell others of how AA saved my life and restored my family. I have a house now with my three children, im working to become a Certified Electrian, im getting married to the woman who despised me a year ago, I have complete restoration with the family who resented me for so long and I owe it all to God and to the program. I have a wonderful sponsor who doesnt always tell me what I want to hear but what I need to and aligns it all with the Big Book and now I have a few sponsors I get the opportunity to walk the steps with and want to be there for anyone and everyone who struggled the way I did. I couldn’t be more grateful
